Kathleen m. linnane, ph.d.

I am the founder and Managing Partner of Linnane & Associates. I have assisted clients in various stages of litigation and recognize that the approach to resolving legal matters is as outdated as the law itself. I bring to my practice expertise in human psychology, and I understand the high emotional tone and complex nature of human interaction when legal matters arise. I offer to my clients and my community a modern, practical, compassionate, and client-focused law practice which addresses traditional needs and provides modern, meaningful results.
Many years as a Professor of Psychology have given me insight into human behavior and an understanding of what people need. I have partnered with individuals suffering from human rights violations and victims of bias and discrimination, families in crisis, persons involved in criminal matters, with families working toward settlement through mediation, and I have litigated as an Attorney for Child in high-conflict cases.
I am experienced in representing diverse families confronting change and minors in matters involving divorce, custody and visitation, child support, adoption, and minor rights. As a business owner and management consultant, I have experienced the countless legal concerns long-term business ownership involves. I have worked with business owners in various stages of practice, from assisting startups establish business entities and build legal frameworks to support growing organizations, to drafting and negotiating non-disclosure agreements and contracts to secure services agreements and investor funding. I also deliver business leadership workshops to entrepreneurs and have worked with business management teams to advise ongoing compliance strategies.
I have a doctorate in Psychology. Much of my research has involved involved understanding brain maturation and related psychological development. My practice of law merges expertise gained through my research and education with principals of justice, negotiation, and progress. I have worked with psychiatrically institutionalized and incarcerated minors to negotiate guardianship and custody agreements upon release. I have collaborated with a State Task Force in New York to develop and recommend legislation concerning controversial human rights issues at the intersection of science, ethics, and public policy, including adoption, reproductive technologies, and organ donation advocacy.
I am an active, zealous, passionate advocate for each of my clients. I bring workable solutions to negotiations that enable resolution. I am committed to empowering my clients through the law. I closely collaborate with each person, working within the parameters of individual needs and resources, to develop a tailored approach and deliver to clients intelligent, optimal outcomes.
